Telling the Tales

In this blog, I plan to tell stories and weave tales. Stories that personify events, news, things and people in my life and the world around me. I may not present the moral of the story in every case, and indeed in many cases, the readers will be asked to suggest how the story should end or the matter resolved. End of the day it is trying to understand a situation from a different perspective, so that everyone can relate to it. Hope everyone reading it enjoys it as much as I do writing it.

The farmboy

Michael looked out of the window from his bed. The sun was going to be visible in a few minutes. The birds were already chirping making a loud commotion. His alarm would go off in a few minutes as well, he thought, as he struggled out of his bed. Next to his bed, on his desk was a pile of things to be fixed. Controllers that were not working, solar modules that were not charging the batteries, and batteries that were not getting charged. Though he was just ten, he needed to help his family farm on a regular basis. He did so, by trying to fix broken farm equipment on his own. His sister, who was seven years younger to him, was demanding all their attention, and Michael was happy, as it left him to focus on things he needed to do. The old man and the Internet

The old man struggled to connect the camera on top of the laptop. His shaking hands did not help either. Like him, his laptop was old, and pre dated the time when cameras started coming inbuilt into the Bezel of the laptop screen. He clicked on the video icon on the application that had been on on his laptop since past thirty minutes, keeping another eye cautiously on the webcam that precariously hung at the top of the laptop. He watched anxiously as the Skype call rang for a few minutes. Finally, he could see his grand son smile sheepishly from the other end. Smiling, the young boy said "Morning grandpa, what time is it for you there? ". Grandpa smiled back. The past half hour had been worth it. He could face another day of life.
